The RFIC Education/Research Center was established is research in order to implement education and researches related to the next generation RFIC technology and relevant core technologies, which are the strategic technologies in the future informatization and wireless communication age, playing a pivot role in the development of information communication industry and industrialization of domestic wireless communication. In order to secure national competitiveness for next generation RFIC parts and systems, sufficient education and researches on the next generation RFIC technology shall be carried out in advance.
Therefore, the RFIC Education/Research Center, which is aimed at materializing the wireless communication technology, will largely contribute to the improvement of quality in the research fields of industry, training manpower and specialized fields of microwave, as well as the groundbreaking development of information communication industries in this country. This center has secure the excellent faculty and top-class facilities in this country, so that it will contribute to the development of domestic information communication industries through researches on specialized RFIC fields.
The studies on Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuit in this center may be classified into four fields, such as studies of microwave-related parts and circuits, development of MMIC devices and circuits, joint researches and development educational programs, compilation of major books related microwaves.
And also, this center have produced about 50 masters and doctors annually in the fields of microwaves through implementation of research projects, and encouraged them to accumulate group experiences and knowledge through seminars held by the center lab.
The labs affiliated to the center are encouraging the researchers to implement broader studies through sharing the equipment donated to the center and implementing technology exchanges.
And the labs also prepare a place for education and information exchange for researchers through providing short-term lectures and holding workshops. The center focuses on designing microwave-related parts, circuit research, and modeling of active microwave elements such as GaAs(MESFET, HEMT, HBT) and Si (SiGe, SiC), including design and fabrication of microwave parts by using the next generation technologies such as MEMS, FBAR and LIGA.
And the studies focus on development of MMIC elements and circuits, including design of various circuits by using the library supplied by GEC-Marconi, Raytheon and Triquint.
The center implements joint research with industries and develops educational programs, and also carries out development and researches on commercialized circuits based on the connection with microwave-related industries home and abroad, including the development of educational programs in order to train relevant professionals. And the center compiles design tool manuals and practical training materials in order to train the professionals at the undergraduate and graduate school, including industries.
