After suggesting the standard and guidelines of engineering-related educational programs, the accreditation and consultation will be implemented on the basis of the standard. The purpose of this procedure is to promote the development of engineering education and produce engineers with capability, and procedure is as follows;
ABEEK accredits the unit of educational programs rather than educational institutions or departments. If a unit of academic affairs is operating multiple programs, each program may be accredited by units, or it may also be accredited as whole. When an educational program has been by ABEEK, it means the program has satisfied the minmum standards regulated by ABEEK. Accordingly, difference in the term of validity does not mean the difference in quality of program. The standards include general accreditation standards and program standards. The general accreditation standard is the one that is applied commonly to all the engineering programs, and the program standard is the one that is applied to different parts by engineering programs(major).
The educational programs accredited by ABEEK shall be indicated in a proper manner so that the title implies the contents clearly. And the contents shall be maintained in the records of graduates. Substantially, the engineering programs similar to each other shall use the same name. If possible, similar name shall not be created more than needs. And the programs shall be named in a method in which accredited and non-accredited programs are distinctive from one another.
